Moral stories time

It's time again to spring clean my old email address. It stocked too many junk mails and attachments. It's not that it had consumed a lot of my 1GB space, it just too many. Browsing through allthe pages will be very difficult.. Anyway, I found a rather interesting article in my email.. Hope you like it!

A jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft.
The HR manager interviewed him, then gave him a test, which was to clean the floor. After that the HR manager said "You are engaged, give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill, as well as when you will start". The man replied, " I don't have a computer, neither an email" I'm sorry", said the HR manager, "if you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job".

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only US$10 in his pocket. The man then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10 Kg tomato crate. He sold the tomatoes in a door-to-door round. In less than two hours, He succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with US$60. The man realized that he could survive this way, and started to go Everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled and tripled day by day. Shortly later, he bought a car, then a truck, then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. 5 years later, the man became one of the biggest food retailers in the U. S.

He started to plan his family's future, and decided to get life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and choose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him for his email. The man replied: "I don't have an email". The broker replied curiously,"you don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?"!! The man thought for a while, and replied: "an office boy at Microsoft!

The moral of this story:
1- Internet is not the solution to your life

2- if you don't have Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.
3- if you received this message by email, you are closer to be an office boy, rather than a millionaire.

P.S.: Do not reply to this email, I am going to sell tomatoes

Nottingham 22nd Sept 2006

Early in the morning 8am, I went out to take breakfast with Justin. Yeah… English style breakfast again, cereal oat, fresh milk, pork sausage, an apple and egg.

The weather is chilly and wet. Temperature drop to about 5C . You can see your own breath when you talk in the afternoon. But anyway, early in the morning I have a jog with Justin around the campus. It's really enjoyable! Just that the climate is different from where I originally trained, so running here brings a bit "discomfort" to my stamina and confidence.

Later in the afternoon, we walked to Beeston town. It's raining profusely and we actually window shop the things here and keep note for the prices.

We got nothing much to do later in the evening so we just chilled out in our rooms.

3rd day in nottingham

Today marked the 3rd day I’m staying in the Nottingham. I’m as busy as usual. I just opened a bank account at the Natwest and paying a visit to the international office to ask about the automatic scholarship for Malaysian.

After these Justin and me stroll around the lake side and managed to snap some pretty photos.

This is me who stands at the Portland Building. The background is the Trend Building. The clock tower actually rings its bell for every subsequent 30 mins until around 5 or 6pm. Not sure about these, will observe longer to get this info. =p

Another photo of the grass field

Just can’t get enough of the beautiful grassy hill photos. The chimney on the right is the tallest point in the University of Nottingham. It’s just a decorative chimney, that’s mean it’s not for use.

We walked until it’s out of the campus, then we walk along side of the road to get into another university entrance.

Later in the evening, the student’s helpers chartered a double Decker bus to fetch us to the town centre. It’s pretty exciting as this is my first time actually take a real English double decker bus. I sit at the ground floor as there are too many people around and it’s hard to get a seat. It is not allow to stand on the first floor as it will make the bus really unstable. (Remember how the point of gravity can affect the stability of a subject, in this case the bus?)

We do browse around for other shops as they do gather for other stuff. We do limited by the closing time which is at 5pm.

Later in the day, we met up Rachel and Ivy. We decided to met again later in the evening after all the shopping and sightseeing. But what makes me felt guilty is that we got lost and couldn't even get in contact with them!!! We have no choice but to find our way back ourselves and keep asking directions from people on the road. Sorry Rachel and Ivy!!! We should have done better....

It's a tiring day indeed!!!

First day In Nottingham

Today marked a very special day for me particularly as I’ve finally “touched down” in Nottingham, United Kingdom.

After taking 14hours flight from Kuala Lumpur and leaving behind heavy heartly my family, my loves one and friends, I board this journey of my lifetime to this dream country of my own.

Then flight takes about 14hours and the whole journey is really unbelievable. Even though the seat are a bit cramp and I have to ask the passengers beside me to give way and stand up every time I have to answer the nature’s call or take a walk; through these ways I’ve made friends with 2 wonderful people, One is Braebal from Germany and another is Nick which is her husband from UK. They now settled in Zurich. On the journey, they give pointers and guide to the UK, what to expect, and actually take care of me while I was on the plane. They offered their novel to read if I’ve finished mine, they ask whether I want to take a walk and things similar to that.

They disembark at Zurich and I have to continue to stay on the plane until Manchester. The trip took another 2 hours. When we are approaching Manchester, the plane slow down its speed. We need to wait for another 20 minutes to touch down as the traffic there is heavy. I am greeted by the Old Trafford Stadium, sheeps and larger farms, and beautifully shaped houses.

The plane touched down at 845am and I proceed to the Immigration. It takes another 30minutes for me to go through it. I met up with a few peoples who is going to the university. There are other universities which come to the airport to pick up the new students also. University of Manchester and University of Hull are one of them. He representatives only come at meet us at about 11am.

We walked to the other building to board a bus to the Nottingham University. And the journey takes another 2 hours. As we arrived in University of Nottingham, we are assigned to student halls (hostel). Mine one is the Hugh Stewart Hall. It’s a classic and serene hall that’s surrounded by greeneries. There’s even a pear tree beside my main front door entrance, well this is my first time seeing a real pear on the tree.

Later on, we are ushered into the Trend Building to fill up the NHS form and get vaccinations for MMR (mumps, measles and rubella) and meningitis C.

After this it’s already 3pm local time. I was starving and exhausted. I rushed down to the Boots (sort of like Watson at home), and grab a sandwich. It costed me 79p for 2 sandwiches.

I met up lots of new friends here. Most of them are friendly. Met up friends from Malaysia, The States, UK, Mauritius, Singapore, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Hong Kong…

Cendol King

This is one of those tiny posts that will makes your taste buds activated and drooling over the famous Penang food!!!

This roadside stall situated in Bukit Tengah (near Ping Bin primary school) is one of the famous cendol stall around in penang state. And most of all, it’s been endorsed and certified by me!!! The unique aromatic taste of the greenish cendol is soaked in the icy cool white ice shreds laced with brown sugar. The taste of each scoop is beyond words and after having a full bowl, you will ask for more. It's soft, it's cooling, it's satisfying and it's easily get addicted with...

Each bowl selling at RM1.20 only that comes with pulut (glutinous rice) or RM1.00 without pulut. So, next time if you have a chance to visit BM, remember to try out this famous delicacy in the Pearl Of Orient!

This is the road that leads to the tasty cendol...

The boss is busy "mixing" the cendols...

Photo shoots--north south highway (backdated 04.09.2006)

Not willing to give my digital camera a rest (just hang on for awhile babe), l constantly have a lookout for interesting to shoot onboard of the express bus.

Ok, I dozed off for the first 2 hours of the ride, but I manage to capture the magic moment of sunset in the northern region of Malaysia.

To frame & shoot the moment proved to be a tricky one. As the bus zoomed passed the 'magical moment' in just with a blink of an eye. In addition to that,.I have to act fast. To get a good shoot with these conditions, I was challenged by the blazing fast speed of passing sceneries.

So, now I have no choice but to crack up the ISO to 200, shutter speed 1/500 & apperture of 2.8, focal length infinity.

I snapped on using continous mode. And I'm proud to bring you my photos captured.

Beautiful isn't it? This is my 'real' first attempt to snap on the speeding bus. It's quite fun actually! Hope someday you'll try it out also!

Back to JSHS

I seldom went back to my high school to pay a visit since I entered University of Malaya. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I seldom went back to my hometown too. Even in the holidays, I spent most of the free time organizing state level programme, university level freshman weeks and so on and so forth. In my final year, I’ve spent it to complete my thesis.

But it seems that the reasons that I’ve given just now do not fit into the condition now =p , so I decided to pay my high school a visit.

Jit Sin High School, a prestigious school which situated in the serene Taman Sri Rambai residential area is the dream school that all the parents wish their children can gain entry into. This school has gained its fame by producing hundreds of the country top of the crops students. Family from as far as Nibong Tebal which is about 30km away always usher their children to study in this top government aided school (SMJK). And most importantly, I’m one of the old boys in this famous high school. =p

The school which stands here for 8 years in this new location. Well, there's quite some changes in my school. Now the school equipped with broadband access and have 150 PC connected to it. This is a good thing because previously my school only has dialup and the line was extremely slow, waiting for the page to load was taking forever... Now, it's faster than thunder.

I visited some teachers and talked to them, my teacher praises me for being grown up. hehe...

Ok, enough said, let's go on to the photo story..

This is the place where I started my NBA journey..

Going back to Hometown-Penang (backdated 04.09.2006)

Since working in Sony for several months, I’ve no time to travel back to my hometown for resting and most importantly, get together with my family members.

After waiting for so long, now it’s the time to go back home. A long long road to way back home.

For the period of 4 years of staying, studying and working in KL, I’ve never been home and staying for so long. A total of 11days will be spent in Penang alone. That means no hastle and bustle of KL city life, no more broadband internet (this is the one I gonna miss a lot), no more yam cha with my dear uni friends and my dearest girlfriend. ( this is the one I’m missing most), no more midnight chat with them and no more Low Yat or PJ Murni anymore. Sigh…

But look at the bright side, at least now I’m got more time to myself, no more complaining about getting junks emails all time, oh and I can lose weight by cutting those mamak stall supper intake and save some money too. =p

Talking about the air here…the sky is much clearer and no more haze as it always happen in KL. Nice misty wind in the morning, clear blue sky in the afternoon and superb orange tingling sunset in the evening.

See the photos for your own judgments.

These 2 photos are taken from my home. Beautiful isn't it?

Behold and feast your eyes with amazing photos coming up next…
